The Ramones was a group of ‘brothers’ from forest hills queens. the ramones helped invent punk rock by mastering a simple but extremely effective sound. it was a combination of speedy grooves, sing along tunes, and deadpan lyrics. it was a kind of boneheaded genius. the sound influenced thousands of bands. their name and pseudonym came from Paul Mccartney. he called himself paul ramon back when the beatles were the silver beatles. in 1976 the ramones were a definitive punk statement. they gravitated toward the CBGB where their songs earned them a recording contract before any of their contemporaries. CBGB was a music club opened in 1973 by Hilly Kristal at 315 Bowery, intersecting Bleecker Street, in the East Village
