Margins & Romainville Project Proposal

After conducting the research about the Park de La Villette I felt extremely inspired by the notion of natural vs. artificial. How do those two interact with each other? Are they fighting with each other? or maybe they share a form of a symbiotic relationship? Aditi’s words about the bleeding concrete really stuck with my and inspired to examine this intriguing relationship. So for the final piece I will create a series of photomontages I will print using riso exploring this relation. A couple days ago whilst scrolling through instagram I actually came across an article that really inspired me. It was about the photographer Morgan O’Donovan and his explorations of a forgotten 1970s office block in Norwich.

For the Margins project I am honestly not 100% sure what I want to do yet. I would really love to find a way to implement the theme I will be working with for the Romainville project but I am having a hard time visualising how I could possibly connect these two. I was thinking about abandoned  and how they fall into the “margins” category of the city as they not only loose their initial purpose but also become unwanted. So maybe I could find one abandoned building and turn it into some sort of garden and create visualisations of that.
