These are rough sketches I designed for each season. After interviewing with Aaron Wexler, I learned that most of the materials used in the process of window display making are made of paper. The first image would be a display for spring; the second would be for winter. The third is a found image I was inspired by for summer and the fourth is a design for the fall. I planned to photoshop textures into the drawings from different papers scanned into the computer, since most displays are made from paper. I also planned to watercolor the backgrounds of the papers to give them each a different effect.

 

This week I went around looking at window displays and photographed my favorite ones. Anthropologie and Free People have an organic style that I find visually appealing. The visual merchandising inside of Free People was beautiful as well. I was inspired to design a window display for each season.

For the first week I made a rough sketch on a window display I was planning on making out of foam core. I planned to make a box out of foam with the front open to view the display. The back wall would have my final scarf as a wallpaper. From the ceiling would hang class bottles with fake flowers in them and on the base there would be pieces cut out like wood lining the floor. In the middle of the floor there would be a pedestal covered in fake grasses and flowers holding a pair of shoes. I soon realized this would be too expensive and had to alter my idea.
