Peer Interview

Write an art designer’s statement of approximately 200 words, which explains your main interests in design, what motivates you as a designer, and any influences you draw from.

Reviewing your previous design work, are there certain themes or traits you see running between your projects? Looking forward, what central issues do you want your work to address?

I am interested in designing large scale works that consist of content that has a relationship with my childhood influences and also ties in with personal reactions and opinions of contemporary issues in this rapidly evolving society that is highly influenced by a digital world. I have started to see many patterns appear in my work over time and I am aware they are appearing but I am not sure how to categorize them because they are still developing and usually come out of spontaneity. Looking forward I am hoping on finding what exactly I like to do in art and what aesthetic fulfills something deeper and personal to me so that I may benefit from the work and hopefully other people can benefit as well. What I feel comfortable with is understanding. I feel like it is totally universal that people feel safe with understanding their worlds and their interactions with it. The more I understand how to use the tools that go into producing fine art like, construction, composition, color, conception, technique, medium, etc it makes me feel more comfortable with the process of making art and how it relates to me and what my art represents. I am very aware that qualities of art are personal opinions everyone has that differs, yet  I believe that the external world offers so much history and knowledge that it assists in develop thoughts, feelings and perceptions about this world and being human. In my opinion this all is a catalyst to developing the type of artist that I am.
