Connection “1/15”

In this project, we changed the way fashion always makes people feel — disconnection, by connecting fashion pieces by different ways. For mine, I chose to connect with two other pieces at my both sides with scarves, which used for keeping warm and protection, like friendship, and my sleeve into another armhole, which meant for a close relationship and united cooperation. I use the plaids patterns as the crossings imply connections literally.

I named it “1/15” in order to emphasis the “connection” as a whole.

For me, connection means unity,cooperation, gain and loss.

Each of out piece is lack of something from original piece, but at the same time gains something else from another piece. That’s how connection in real life works that we share our love and sadness, get helped or volunteer for others. The theme of the my piece is to give and share kindness and warmth with people surround as the connected scarf and overlapped sleeve perform. As an individual, the piece seems weak and flimsy, however as a group, they work together create a strong and powerful feeling.
