Artist Statement (Revised)

My work is an evolution of exploration and reminiscence of the past. Each piece is an example of how I enjoy learning new techniques that further my knowledge with textiles, needlework, and construction. Taking a liking to handiwork, I prefer to keep traditional ways of needlework alive instead of relying entirely on modern technology and machines. Dying arts, such as embroidery, lace-making, and crocheting are abilities I would like to bring back.  However, when it comes to textiles and materials, I embrace new scientific discoveries that involve growing fabric or materials through natural methods or using materials that are environmentally friendly. I consistently try to find new materials, such as candy, plants, and wax, to use in unconventional ways for fashion garments and products.

While not all of my work is produced entirely by natural means, I am always inspired by nature. Many textures and colors in nature that are quite extraordinary and combat the modern era of technology and man-man forms. I allow these discoveries to lead my research and help me find even more mysteries of the earth.
