Conscience -Final

process

Decisions that we make everyday root off of something. Whether it is apparent or subliminal. This raises the question as to whether the consciences of human beings can have any influence on the serious issues, also whether a lack of conscience is a significant cause.  It must be recognized that society has largely failed to have any conscience in the past. Our conscience consumes our mind. When people say that they have that gut feeling to go about something, that is our conscience speaking to us. Every person has a conscience, which is like an alert system meant to send warnings when a behavior or decision might be harmful. This makes it possible for people to distinguish between what is morally right and morally wrong. In my video or photo series I want to show a person sitting in an empty room with two TVs on each side of them. One TV would represent the negative conscience and the other will represent the positive. I want to show the battle we face with our inner conscience on to do the right or the wrong. I want to link this with inner selfishness. In the end it will show how conscience is to powerful and over takes the subject.

The theory of  color interaction fits well for my video to show the mood shift of positive to negative with bright vibrant colors to powerful ( red) and dark (black) colors. For the video portion, semiotics plays a role with the different symbols such as fire to be negative, and disney clips for childhood.

Anger & Guilt of a Housewife

Processscene1 scene2 scene3 scene4 scene5 scene6

I’ve never been the marrying kind, the one who takes the dog out, folds the clothes and has a freshly home cooked meal waiting at my husbands arrival after a demanding day at work.  I wanted something of my life and I was so close of getting it. I dreamed of success for myself and that’s when I met Robert. When I spoke to him I felt wealthy, he made me feel like highest person in the room. He could sense my excitement, maybe it was the way my eyes bulged out when he said New York City and spotlight in one sentence but the excitement got pulled down quickly when he gave me an ultimatum. I was to open my heart to him, be his wife and he will give me a job in New York City. The domesticated wife that I had become, I found myself cleaning out Roberts closet. I was more sitting there sulking everything in then cleaning. Right when I was about to have my feelings over power my dignity I came across a filing box filled with scripts and applications that I had given Robert to give to agencies. The walls felt like they were caving in, as I was mortified of how ignorant and blinded I was by this situation. He played me for a fool; he was a corrupt soul and deserved everything I was about to give to him. The wheel of the lighter scraped my thumb equivalent to the tear running down my cheek. It was over.

Greenwich Village, which is also referenced to as “The Village” is located on the west side of Lower Manhattan, founded In 1799.The neighborhood is closed in by Broadway on the east, the Hudson River on the west, Houston Street on the south, and 14th Street on the north. The neighborhoods surrounding it are the East Village, SoHo and Hudson Square, and Chelsea. The neighborhood is home to many upper middle class families however, Greenwich Village was known in the late 19th to mid 20th centuries as the bohemian capital. The bohemian aspect is what really struck my attention while researching.  The village is known for its colorful and artistic residents that it made me question who or what killed this mood. As I sat in Washington Square Park and observed people I began to realize that the people surrounding me were not giving me the same attention as I was to them. As I was watching them they did not notice, not because they did not see me staring but because they cannot physically see me because they were to involved with their phones. This led me to the question of who is living in this moment? I walked around the park in the morning counting how many people were using technology. My first morning consisted of 32 people either listening to music or simply just scrolling on their phones. Later on in the day it got even worse. From 32 quiet browsers, turned into loud obnoxious phone calls. My data did not change from day to day but from hour of the day. The only reasonable explanation is the hours later in the day mostly had to do with work calls. Society today cannot appreciate the history around them as much as they did when Greenwich was still colorful and bold; we have that constant battle with technology that everything seems to be lost.
