Yves Saint Laurent was one of the most influential fashion designer in Europe after 1960s. Halston was one of the most famous designer in USA during that period. So both of them were the fashion leaders in the world after World War II.

Yves’ design was very elegant, all the garments he designed emphasized women’s body and independence. His career time was so perfect, he almost got whatever he wanted rather than Karl Lagerfeld. But on the other wise, working in Dior helped him grow more mature on designing. After he got kicked out, he started YSL so successfully. “He outfitted women in blazers and smoking jackets, and introduced attire like the pea coat to the runway.” [1]In 1970s, all the fashion world should be Yves’ world, he leaded the fashion trend.

Coincidently, in USA, Halston, who had the similar ideas on fashion, was also very popular in the same time period. Halston and Yves had a lot of similar designs, but Halston’s idea came from his hat. Feminist Movement was really hot during 1960s-70s, all their designs encouraged women to be themselves.
