Anthropocene Journal #4

I bought this bag to store my sewing tools, it is now my sewing kit. I got it in China, it is also made in a factory in Guangzhou, China. It is made out of cotton, it has a very minimal design which allows it to only be compose of nothing but fabric. A bag made without any hardware like zippers, buttons… is very rare, that is the reason I bought it. It is also very cheap, it costs only about 1 dollar in RMB(Chinese currency). As a fashion student, I know it is a extremely simplified product, it is very simple to make and if I were to make this bag myself, I would keep it the same way, one thing I would change is the dyeing process. This bag is obviously dyed by chemical dye, Guangzhou has a lot of food and vegetable waste, a lot of the waste are simply left straight from the market. Since the bag is only composed of fabric, I think they can took those waste to produce a natural dyed bag, not only to save the costs but also help the environment in Guangzhou, now there are just too many factories in Guangzhou and the majority of them are producing fabrics, it could be a important step to connect the fabric and food industry together because they also are the 2 most important income and culture in Guangzhou.
