Object Impressionism Journal: Day 4

Class: Integrative Studio 2

Assignment: Create a journal entry of a personally taken photo and reflect how this everyday interaction relates to an issue on a more global scale.

As the second semester of school begins, I have been using more and more paper. Paper in notebooks, paper to sketch on, and eventually, paper to craft with. I have also been given packets of paper with syllabi and homework assignments, collecting a sizable stack of paper. Paper is a material that serves many purposes throughout the world. The everyday use of paper reaches almost every aspect of life and is a product in growing demand. But paper has become a useful source that can be sustainable if recycled and replaced by planting more trees. From a design perspective, paper is a material able to sculpt and manipulate for design models and prototypes. It encourages the design industry to further enhancement on sustainability to all notions of art. Looking at paper can mean finding solutions and expression without putting harmful substances in the environment.
