Memories that last do not need to be dramatic. For me, my most vivid memories of childhood and home are miniscule, general moments that all together comprises my perception of “home.” Personally, it is these little instances that I miss the most. Therefore, my childhood memories of home are tied into a narrative artwork through a circular structure to portray that these moments are small, repetitive moments with no particular beginning or end; in other words, I aim to narrate the story of my childhood home life through flashes of insignificant yet timeless memories. Each “frame” represents a space in which I spent time with my family and a memory from within that space (i.e. Mom cooking in the kitchen, driving a car with Dad behind the wheels, playing piano in the bedroom, looking out the living room window, and drying clothes in the bathroom). The text at the center emphasizes that all these spaces together create the physicality of “home.” Furthermore, the motif of the hands and the first-person-viewpoint situate the observers into the scenes, as though they are the one in the moment – making the work relatable.
