Proposal
My first proposal:
My location is Gramercy Park Hotel and the sustainability issue I am challenging is low-quality clothing the fast fashion companies produce. In order to denounce the waste generated by the mass production, I plan to use high-end fabric to make a short dress. I do not approve total domestic manufacturing because in this case people in other countries might have fewer job opportunities. Moreover, I encourage trade because its benefits the economics in a macro perspective. Therefore, I will use a fabric that was produced in another country. I was inspired by the interior design of Gramercy Park Hotel. Therefore, my main color would be red and golden-yellow because I was inspired by the color palette of the design of the hotel. The collection I present will be shot at the Gramercy Park Hotel.
Story Board
Here are some elements I pick up from the interior design of Gramercy Park Hotel. The Renaissance style and the baroque pattern inspired me for my decision of the fabric and the design.
Color palette
Unfortunately, it was quite difficult to find a golden-red baroque pattern fabric.
Proposal
My second proposal:
After rapid prototyping, I realized, a short dress would not be as delicate and classy as a long gown. Also I was unable to find a red baroque patter fabric. Therefore I decided to use a gown I had custom made out of Pierre Cardin bed sheet which has a paisley pattern that is very similar to baroque pattern.
