Learning Portfolio Reflection

As of now I describe my work as the integration of what i’m thinking and feeling when i’m assigned something in class. My Learning portfolio reflects what i’m assigned and the ideas I come up with to tackle the assignment. The more free time I create for myself in the coming years the more i’ll be able to produce and show what I want to create with no restrictions and regulations. I’ve learned Photoshop and have utilized the program in a few of my projects including Still lifes, Bridge four final Stand Tall and Bridge 2 Juniper. While attending sustainable systems I’ve learned where to look for sustainable design materials and creating earth friendly design solutions, I’ve also learned in-design. In space and materiality I’ve been able to keep my model making skills sharp and learning about stronger connections to improve models strength and look (see anything labeled space and materiality). I’ve made one movie trailer for my Time class first semester and I participated in a group effort to make another short video for studio: constructed environments. In posts labeled drawing and imaging or 100 drawings you will find I’ve had to hand draw and hone my skills in that field, learning how to draw in drawing and imaging, I also had to figure out the way I like to draw and what I like to draw as apart of the process.

Bridge 2 Juniper was my favorite project because I got to use 100 of my own drawings to create a new artist, so I created juniper an immortal vampire graffiti artist who lives in New York. My partner and I planned different days to meet and we assigned ourselves different task. I did a lot of re learning on Photoshop during this time which was in the beginning of the first semester. We produced a zine full of her most famous artwork and a short background of her life. In seminar, which is connected to studio, we had to write a ten page monologue of the characters life before coming to New York, while in New York and what they were doing after they came. We also made a video, in it we conduct an interview with the now famous Juniper. While doing this project I just wanted to be as diverse as possible so making a vampire, lesbian graffiti artist was what I thought to be different, yet so normal. Coming to a design school like this one I expect everything to be different and more unheard of than any other.

Time Trailer: Wheres my daughter was assigned to be a movie or TV trailer, “make something to allude to a larger show”. So I wanted to go for something like Taken. A man searching and fighting for something precious he’s lost and what greater than a man’s child. The show casted a lot of my friends around my dorm and a lot of the scenes were filmed likewise. One thing that was fun is being the director, asking for more emotion, choosing the angels and putting the film together to get my exact vision on screen. My thoughts were clear because I drew out some story boards prior to filming but one unexpected element I gained was a sense of humor in the film. I’m a funny person so i’m guessing that rubbed off on the overall film, I only saw the humor in the trailer while editing it with one of my good friends, she taught me the basics of premier (she’s amazing) and I’ve learned a few pro tips.
Next semester I’m really trying to learn computer programs like revit, rhino, illustrator and fusion 360. I also want to become more proficient with all adobe programs. I’m obsessed with thinking of future designs for architecture, clothes and products, but I lack the skills to bring what i’m thinking of to life so i’m really ready to grind from now till forever on my skills in doing that. Often I wish that anything I think of could be created instantly so it could be perceived by others maybe one day i’ll create the technology to do such things. Next semester I hope I get into Designing interiors, a class that teaches rhino and works with Photoshop and sketchup. I want to expand my mind so reading will be happening more often in my life and a great skill I need to perfect is hand drawing. I’m thinking of taking a sixth course for next semester and that will either be another program based course, drawing or a language.
