Instillation piece: What’s really going on ?

My constructed environments studio final was to design and place an instillation of any kind, Immediately I knew I wanted to install in front of the school. My piece “What’s really going on ?” Is meant to raise the question in people who walk by our architecturally captivating building known as the university center that don’t get an understanding of what the students ( the people who make the school what it is) actually do behind those walls.

I used twenty five various fabrics that my friend Ye gave me from fashion week. I closed pinned the fabrics together to make myself a canvas that I would then spray paint with orange, yellow blue and black and use hints of tie dye. I placed lights behind the fabric, I wanted lighting bolts to be apart of the final product and I decided this was a good way to go and the lights act as an attention grabber to a piece that’s seemingly unfocused. One minor detail I took time with was hanging it, I used the parsons wood shop to cut wooden corners that I placed the fabric edges in between to hang with velcro.

My main goal was to put on the canvas whatever emotion, thought or feeling I had that day. I would be fully relaxed, I aloud myself to get into a no pressure zone when I was working. I did this because the concept of the project should allow the viewer to see what a student (in this case myself) does.
