Manus x Machina

In the Manus x Machina exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I was drawn to the dress above, by Threeasfour. The “Interdimensional” dress was part of the Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The materials used to create this dress include machine-sewn white neoprene and nude nylon mesh and hand-appliqué of 3D-printed ivory resin and nylon. I enjoyed this dress because of the use of fractals, which is clear in the second photo as the larger piece of material branches off into identical, but smaller pieces of the same pattern. I liked that this specific 3D-printed dress was still functional, whereas the other ones in this exhibit seemed as though it would be a long process to get the model into the dress.manus manus2
