PARSONS PARIS GARDEN

A system for students and teachers to take care of an urban rooftop garden

We would like to create a community for Parsons faculty and students to participate in our project to create a rooftop garden at the sixth floor. The school has an unused rooftop of approximately 56 square meters that has the potential to function as a Parisian Urban Garden.

Students and teachers could grow, water and nurture a variety of herbs, vegetables, fruits, plants and flowers together. Each student and teacher interested in the urban garden would have to sign up for a list. At the beginning of a longer period every year, a few teachers and students will be assigned responsibility for a specific container, box,  that they will be taking care of. The weekly schedule can then be outsourced to all students and teachers in the school interested in the project.

The participants would have access to the food for free and it would create a nice cooperation across teachers and students.

Benefits

  • Makes an efficient use of the rooftop at Parsons
  • Provides students and teachers a team cooperation
  • Produces healthy free food available to those who participate
  • Good Parsons reputation
