Studio Self Portrait and Portrait

I was fascinated with the idea of transferring my images onto paper. I wasn’t able to find citrisolve, but I read that acetone worked. I decided to take photos of Avita and myself with covered faces. By covering our faces, I wanted to show how little I knew about her and myself. Much of what is put into a portrait or self portrait is how we want to be viewed/interpretted. I wanted to show this thought by taking a more abstract approach to a portrait.

I also photographed our hands for the smaller portion of the project.

I was interested in the idea of creating a piece as well as a way to display it. I created stands for my portraits using the remaining pieces of poster board.

I wanted to take a minimalistic approach to this project. My photography incorporates my dance background, and I wanted to create something within my own style. I have always loved photo matting, and I thought incorporating that into the project would create a more finished piece. The smaller hand portraits fit into the larger piece. The red ribbon is pulled, and the hands are released. This reveals the larger portraits underneath.

I have attached my idea drawings in a gallery setting.
