Project 3: Research and Planning–Studio 2D

My dad once told me that “freedom is money. Because you can’t do anything if you don’t have any money.” This stuck with me, but not for the reason I think he intended. The only lesson here was what not to believe. I am in the process of discovering my own answer in my own life, but I wonder what other people believe.

I plan to interview both strangers and people/family members/friends I know from a variety of ages, professions and lifestyles. Some interviews need to be done over a phone call or email as some I cannot visit in this time restraint, but I plan to interview strangers face to face, and in the heat of the moment. The subway brings one of the widest range of people together in New York, I believe, so some of my interviews will occur there. From personal experience, writing brings about greater ideas and deeper opinions than speaking on the spot. So, depending on the timing of the interview and the situation, I hope to have some interviews spoken for that immediate, automatic response, but also some with a thoughtful, written response.

The image is something I am struggling with right now. I am not sure how or what image can relate to my question, and I’m not sure that I want an image to push people’s minds towards something that it wouldn’t have gone in the first place. I want that personal feeling within my interviewee’s answer, and an image seems to mess with that.
