Progress

Here is a link to the work in progress website that contains the 3 levels. I’ve been developing it with the help of Jonathan. Our main struggles are the positioning of the video and the interaction as it seems to be changing from android to iPhone, and from chrome to safari. Also, dealing in creating 3 different links and the existence of buttons. I still haven’t figured out how I was going to name the video buttons.

Some features we want to make sure are there are:

  • the Instagram interface. I love that you can see the buttons. Firstly because it mirrors exactly reality, especially that the footage is an actual screen record of my feed, but also because Instagram is testing its users with button placement and features. Interestingly enough, everyone has different interfaces and it’s great for people to realize it by showing mine and bringing the issue forward.
  • Impossible for someone to see the duration of the video, or for the person to be able to hit pause. It has to be a confusing time loop with no information, that a person can only escape from if they close the tab entirely. An additional quick nudge to our interaction with apps in real life.
  • Sound has to work.
  • Accessible by QR code.
  • As little extra “design’ and information as possible.

For now, Level 1 and Level 2 are the same footage but video 2 has a beat, and level 3 is a more extreme video from different footage with a faster beat.

My next steps are working on this, as well as display, a refined concept statement and a potential performance manual.
