I encountered a homeless man on the street that had a cat by his side, and I felt this was his way of feeling at home although he was in a public space. I connect this situation with the one on the article “When A Budget Motel Room Is Home, There’s Little Room for Childhood” in which a woman called Karen was living with her son at the Golden Star Inn Motel, and used stuffed animals to decorate the room to make the motel a more livable place for her son. Those stuffed animals represent the same for me as this man’s cat.
