This week I learned about how the DEP constantly samples our water in order to ensure its cleanliness. These samples are analyzed over 600,000 times annually. Lots of money is also put into the infrastructure of the water system, with a $750 million dollar program implemented just last year. A $1 billion dollar project to construct an aqueduct bypass tunnel is also being planned for the future. Though a of money and work is put into ensuring we have proper water, it is crucial as the system provides for approximately 10 million people every day. Nonstop planning and investments must be put in to make our toilets and water useable. Toilets not only provide a way of waste disposal for us, but fit into a whole system of water. Toilets cannot function on their own, and require the whole other system of water purification for usage. If the water purification system were to break down or slip up, we would not have proper toilet or sanitation usage.
