Poop can be a good thing, as it can indicate aspects of your health, based on the way it looks. Since we cannot see inside our bodies, this is can be a helpful indicator. For example, if your poop is oily, this may indicate that your body is not able to properly digest fat. If it is black or bloody, there may be a problem with your digestive system.
Beyond the benefits of physical health, poop can also be a way to generate energy, and be more eco friendly. Animal waste is a huge contributor to carbon pollution, but is also the cleanest burning fossil fuel. By using poop to make biogas, electricity could be made to create renewable energy. Biogas is made when organic matter (such as poop) is put under anaerobic conditions, which produces gases fit for burning. This could power homes, vehicles, and even be used for commercial sale. This would be more environmentally friendly, but could also be utilized in communities without access to many resources. They could use their own waste to power their homes, if they did not have the income able to provide for gas before.
Though poop has its benefits to society, it can also be extremely detrimental in some cases. In communities with poor sanitation, poop is known to spread disease. Diarrhea kills 2,195 per day. This is just one of many diseases that kills and is spread by human feces. Without proper sanitation fixtures of practices, the spread of disease, especially through poop is unavoidable. It contaminates the water that people drink, and creates a vicious cycle of consuming and spreading disease.
