Project 1: Creating the Garment

While I was coming up with ideas for my garment I went back to the photos I took of the buildings and shop displays. After writing down a few ideas I decided to make a garment that had lines similar to the buildings and colors similar to the storefront displays in Chinatown. The goal of my garment was to make it available to use as camouflage, since the theme of my project was shelter.

To make my final garment I went to Lot-Less. I decided I didn’t want to buy fabric from a store, so I ended up buying a a really thick decorative curtain to use as the jacket. Since the curtain was so thick, it was difficult to work with but overall ended up producing the look I was going for.  For the stripes on the jacket I bought a striped sundress and cut each individual stripe out.
