Pylos Images

The restaurant I was assigned to is called Pylos. It’s a contemporary Greek Restaurant located at 128 E 7th St. Their menu has a greek comfort food as well as greek takes on traditional dishes. For the 12 images, I started to draw concepts which was actually meant for next week but some of the photos that I added were able to be chosen for me to use.

The images that were chosen was the picture of the Greek island of Santorini, a picture of the table set up with the utensils and dish ware, the image of the seating with pillows, the ceiling with all the pots, the image of decor on their walls, and the picture of the eggplant zucchini dish called Kolokythakia Kai Melitzanakia Tyganita. These images really capture the essence of the restaurant as well as Greece which is what the inspiration of the restaurant. The use of blue and white is not only exemplified in the decor but also the waiters wear a clean white shirt with a blue tie. The wine rack is also blue. There were also hints of seafoam green and the most interesting piece of decor would have to be the hundred or so red pots that have been mounted to the ceiling with some of them containing light bulbs to illuminate the restaurant.

The restaurants owner, Christos Valtzoglou, wanted Pylos to encompass the different foods from all over Greece into a contemporary setting. The restaurant is meant to respect tradition as well as provide a comfortable setting and reasonably priced food for its customers.
