Weekly: Hand Draft (Architectural) LETTERING

Week 1: 20 minutes worth of lettering of the “Vertical” Single Stroke Gothic Alphabet with numbers.

Week 2: Let’s change the Lettering Exercise to make it a little more interesting. Write the following statement (which uses every letter in the alphabet. Switch back and forth between Vertical & Inclined Single Stroke Gothic Alphabet.

Week 3: I want us to practice a different group of letters to help you improve. Switch back and forth between Vertical & Inclined Single Stroke Gothic Alphabet.

Week 4: Let’s go back to doing the full alphabet with numbers but this time only do it using the Inclined Single Stroke Gothic Alphabet.

Week 5: Write the following two sentences in Vertical Single Stroke Gothic Alphabet:

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD LETTERING CANNOT BE OVER-EMPHASIZED. THE LETTERING CAN MAKE OR BREAK AN OTHERWISE GOOD DRAWING.

Week 6: Each day write each reflection prompt and then, in your own words, your answer…free-write for 20 minutes. Will you be able to think in this style of lettering? Looking forward to reading your answers! You can write in either style: Vertical or Inclined. Just make sure to be consistent.
