On the outer sides, it’s how others see teens or Parson students, then you go in and see how parents think their child should be, and finally, we want to break out of those views and just be ourselves. It starts out waking up in the morning, and getting ready for the day. As it progresses, you can see the femininity dominating. But in the center, is where the tom-boy personality wanting to break free.

In our selfie dialogue we have tried to symbolize the narrow norms that the society has laid out for women. The pictures have been placed in such a way that they form a box to symbolize the narrow mentality of those who are expected to follow such norms. In the second layer we have attempted to make fun of the morning routine that women are anticipated to follow. People think that we spend hours doing our makeup and hair, even thought, according to them females are supposed wake up flawless. The four pictures at the center and the shattered glass around it symbolizes our effort to break through these sickening norms.

The four images at the center reflect our attempts to break out and to shatter narrow norms that the society has laid out for women. The first and the last picture are of the beginning of our morning routine. The routine starts from when to wake up and ends when we are fully dressed. We have attempted to make fun of the morning routine that women are anticipated to follow. People think that we spend hours doing our makeup and hair, even thought, according to them females are supposed wake up flawless.
