1) The 3 original magazine concepts – write a sentence about each idea and include photos of any related sketches.

Insecurities-How people would do anything to change their appearance to look better or fit in.
“homeless”-How people would follow even the most ridiculous trends.
hair-how people wear/style their hair

2) & 4)
Describe the process of making the magazine: in what order were things created? why? how did one thing inspire another? how did the team members work together? what obstacles came up and how did the team and individuals overcome them?

-At first we chose the homeless-“Tattered-Riches to Rags”-with perfume, celebrity influence, accessories
-We then changed our concept and chose the the our first idea, insecurities.
-We modified it to instant beauty, and how you can have the beauty you want and can change it in an instant, so it’s called Rush Hour.
-We changed our concept from “homeless” to “instant beauty” because we couldn’t come up with any good or strong ideas, we saw that other teams enjoying their projects, and had more passion with their ideas.
-When we changed it, our ideas seemed to come more easily, had more to work with, and had more fun with it.
-We also had to make it more funny and make sure our ideas or what we’re talking about doesn’t clash with another person’s writing.
-When we worked in smaller groups outside of class, we communicated better than all together at once, where some people couldn’t speak out when others were speaking. And we would give each other idea’s and comments.
-It was hard meeting up when some had to go to class or already made plans. Sometimes it would be hard to get in touch and have to wait for replies when we might be trying to work on it.
-But we kept meeting up, and got our work done.

3) How would you describe the overall visual style of the magazine and how does it support the main concept?

-It’s very neat and simple;
The ads-one in the front, and one in the back, in the middle is the eight spreads of us before and after, and our articles are in between the ads and spreads from both sides. We made everything related getting beauty in a short amount of time, barely putting so much effort.

5) How was the work divided in the team? Who did what? What was your part in the connecting and making? Reflect on your abilities as a member of the team? What challenges came up that were specific to working with a team (vs. working alone)?

-Rebeka, Caitlin, Keanna, Aradhita, and Andrew- ideas
-Rebeka, Aradhita, Keanna- AD ideas
-Aradhita, Andrew and Rebeka- took and finding pictures
-Keanna, Aradhita, Caitlin, and Andrew- InDesign
-Caitlin- PhotoShop
-It was hard to make things funny or starting to clash with each other’s article ideas.
-We met up outside of class a few times–but we had to meet up in smaller groups because some people had class or jobs.
-We had to communicate a lot more within each other, and outside of the class to progress and understand each other.

6) Show images from the process: sketches, mock-ups, versions that your rejected and explain why.

-“Tattered-riches to rags”-couldn’t come up with any other ideas or make it funny-so changed the concept to instant beauty
-We rejected the pictures of posing like a human clock- the message was unclear

-make andrew’s lip look stung
