What is fashion? This was one of the first questions that was asked the first day. I remember saying that fashion was a way of expressing. Now is still feel that fashion is a way of expressing but I learned that there are other things that make up fashion and play a key role such as the historical aspect and that there is more than just a garment that hits the racks or the runway. Gender, location, class and much more can be main components that can make up fashion. “Gender is socially constructed and cultural created ad represented. Gender is something that people do. Applying makeup, shaving one’s face or one’s legs, and donning high heels or a face veil all fall within the realm of doing gender” (Kaiser 127). This was a quote that made think what fashion can be and is.
