Fashion is not only the way we dress and the way we display ourselves to the world, but something that defines who we are. Fashion is shaped by the place we lived in, fashion is influenced by the the culture around us. We don’t just dress ourselves to look good, we dress ourselves to fit it to the surroundings, we dress ourselves to express a certain emotion. As Susan Kaiser once stated in her book, “Fashion is never finished, and it crosses all kinds of boundaries”, fashion is a construct that is built upon different aspects. The are no limits and simple explanation of what fashion is because of how board the term is. In the beginning of the semester I thought fashion is just about the way we dress and the aesthetics of how we dress, but now I learned that fashion is directly connected to a lot of aspects in our lives. For example, fashion is used as a huge identification of a subculture, the way that the members of a subculture dresses defines who they are and their beliefs. For example, the punks uses safety pins as an accessory to show the sense of rebel and resistance to the society. On the other hand, celebrities are a huge influence on the way people dresses, especially in recent years when the social media became so common and popular, the influence that the media had on us increased a lot.
