Tattoo Flash Sheets for Studio 2: Visual Culture

For my final assignment in Studio 2: Visual Culture, I used micron pens to draw blackwork tattoo flash sheets. Blackwork is a style of tattooing that uses only black ink, placing emphasis on line work and shading using lines and dots. In order to make my designs good contenders for body ink pieces, I wanted to create art that would appeal to a variety of aesthetic tastes while still being original to my own artistic voice. The many inking techniques used in drawing blackwork allows for versatility in aesthetic and themes, while providing a clean, cohesive look among the designs. Once I finished my designs, I scanned and rearranged them in photoshop to print on temporary tattoo paper.
