New York

A City that is Fast & Never Stops Beating

I’ve never been to New York before, so everything in New York seems unfamiliar to me. I’ve never seen a city that combines the old part and the new part so well. Most of the buildings in New York have a long history. But the city doesn’t feel old like Paris or Italy because of its people. You can see lots of people with different nationalities, and different skin colors, walking fast along the streets. The road is crowded with cars and often noisy. Maybe the sound of people and cars is the heartbeat of New York.

To tell the truth, I’ve never walked so fast before. Even in Shanghai, people don’t walk so fast like New Yorkers.

There are always scaffolds on the street, I guess it’s because the buildings in New York are too old that people have to keep fixing them. It’s unique when you look at this city through scaffolds.

At the first day I went to New York, I almost cried when I was walking down the streets. The people here seem so strange to me, and the roads are messy and easy to get lost. But now I am totally fine because people here are too busy to care about you. Everyone is always busy on their own stuff, so they won’t care where do you come from or why you are here. It’s a good news for me because I am rather sensitive to other’s thought.

The New School

An Amazing Place with Super-cool Students

This newly built building is really cool. It’s totally different from the others around. Every time I walk in, the hall is often filled with students. So energetic. The students of The New School, especially studying at Parsons, are super-cool. They know how to wear, they have their own unique style, they are so confident and out-going. I am so happy to be a member of them, and I’m trying to be as cool as they are. I’m trying to make friends with them, but my English isn’t so good, so I have some trouble communicating. I’ll figure out how to do it.

My dorm is 20th Street Residence. It’s in Chelsea and it’s safe and good. There is a double and a triple in my apartment. The other four girls are really nice. Our room is neat but the ladder is quite terrible. Despite this, the others are all good.

I am exiting to explore Chelsea.

Me

Exiting & Afraid

When I was sitting on the plane and about to fly to New York, I was so anxious. I even want to go back to my home. I’ve never been so far away from my home alone. I didn’t think I was ready for it. But I have to, even though I was scared. Fortunately, I feel good living in New York. I am very busy every day, trying to finish all the tasks I have to do, but I’m happy. I cannot wait to meet my professors and attend classes, but I’m still a little afraid of the future.

Whatever happens, I will work hard and stay calm.
