OBSERVING THE CITY

About My Works

FAvenuevenue (between 18th and 19th streets) is a busy street. It seems like she never sleeps. Lots of people walking, cars running. Lots of stores of big brands are on her, which make her really fashionable. Scaffolds on her bring a feeling of modern and mechanical. People walking through steel tubes, the shadow of the tubes are really messy and cool at the meantime. Lots of cabs passing through, picking people by the street. So, she is always decorated by yellow. There is water always falls down next to a mailbox, which likes a small waterfall. Some people will watch this small waterfall curiously while waiting for the traffic light. where is the water coming from? Why it keeps falling down? This little waterfall makes she kind of mysterious. Stores are closed at night, but the light never turns off. Even at night, the street is busy and noisy. She’s kind of a nightbird. She never sleeps, always busy.

Visual Grid

This is my visual grid showing your interpretation of the block and its vibrancy.

Linear Interpretation

The process of making the linear interpretation of the block.

Final Work

This is the final.

The block grid is like showing all the pictures at the same time, from here you can hardly feel the continuity of time, but you can feel the integrity of the picture very well.

The linear arrangement of the pictures makes the continuity of time very well, which can be used to express a continuous and complete story. People will guess what happened in this street when they look at it.

By moving pictures up and down and zooming them up and down, people focus more on certain pictures.

The addition of text is very important, and sometimes these words can connect images together to form a whole. The content of the text is my description and feeling of the street.
