2) Reflect on trip to Kettl

1. One most interesting part is when the owner showed us the photos of the owners of the Japanese tea field and tells us the story of them. The other one is when my classmates and I explored various tea sets in such a small space, I had a feeling of treasure hunting.
2. I think Kettl will become a Long Life Business, because the owner has the passion to look for good tea and make tea sets, and has always passed his idea and belief to his customers. Tea and tea sets have gradually become much more popular among the Americans in recent years. The process of using tea sets and tea is full of fun and not so complicated. This business is also very environmentally-friendly, and the design of the tea sets has a high aesthetic feeling.

4. He is both a businessman and an artist. He no doubt made his money selling tea, but his Kettl is different from many other tea company. Zach’s tea is about connecting people. He visited many tea owners in Japan and connected them to New York City. Those tea sets all have extremely aesthetic feeling extremely, can let people feel Japanese aesthetic idea. Can you slow down and make a pot of tea in the fast-paced New York life? Kettl exists to challenge this, more than sell tea.
5. He has to be constantly in touch to keep his work sustainable. His tea is about people, and he needs to go to Japan often to contact and communicate with the tea owners to carry on. So I’m not sure if his work is sustainable, it’s all about his choices and actions.

3) 50 Year Object

In my house there is a little wooden stool handed down from my father’s old house. It has been in use for more than 50 years. It’s hard to imagine a wooden object being used that long, but it did. I am not so clear about the origin of it. Maybe my father’s mother had it made when my father was young. After marrying my mother and buying a new house, my father took it back to the new house. This little stool is not only one of my childhood toys, but also a tool for the whole family, used when we want to reach something high. After I had a cat, my dad repainted the stool in white, and it became a secret base for my cat. Until now, my cat still likes to sit on it. I think one of the reasons it’s been used so long is that it’s made of solid wood, it’s all handmade, and it’s of very good quality. It was also so practical that my father kept it instead of throwing it away. And we didn’t use it for heavy work, but only as a small tool in the house and never broke it. The stool is made of wood, so the tree was grown from a system of air, water and, which connected to water circulation system, air circulation system, life circulation system, water purification system and cut down into a piece of wood. These systems come from nature, so there is no doubt that they are threatened by climate change.
