Affordance Design

For the main work space area of the DT area I decided to modify an affordance of the large work tables used by students. I noticed that the wheels on the tables afford motion, and allow the tables to be mobile to position the table wherever might be convenient. The wheels accomplish this with two independent axis of motion, both revolving around different center points. Because of this, the motion of the wheel in respect to the table feels awkward and unwieldy. I modified the wheels by introducing the affordance of a freely orbital range of motion with a ball and socket. This way, the table is able to rotate and move freely and smoothly.
