Monuments Field Trip

I chose to redesign the Charging Bull monument because of how controversial its meaning can be. The original designer meant for the bull to symbolize the resilience of the American people. He designed it after the stock market crash to show that Americans have a dan-do attitude and are strong. However, based on political, economic and social trends, the Charging Bull has taken on many new meanings. The bull has often been viewed as a symbol of capitalism representing the stock market. Capitalism is most often linked to greed since it is an economic and political system in which private owners control the country’s trade and gain profit individually. I think the monument needs to somehow return to its original meaning of strength and resilience in the American people especially since moral has been lower than usual lately.

Below are some photos I took while we visited the Charging Bull.
