W8 Reading Response

She defines a cyborg as “a cybernetic organism, a hybrid of machine and organism, a creature of social reality as well as a creature of fiction. In the article, she talked about the animal and human, human and machine, as well as the relationship between cyborg and feminism.

On the page 292, she said, “It is also an effort to contribute to socialist-feminist culture and theory in a postmodernist, non-naturalist mode and in the utopian tradition of imagining a world without gender, which is perhaps a world without genesis, but maybe also a world without end.” Her statement made me rethink about the the existence of feminism– Where it came from, what did it do. Feminism often preaches the idea of male derogatory and declares that women’s interests are higher than men, and they criticize that radical feminist positions are harmful to both men and women. Some of the rights extended to exclusive women are the same as those of patriarchal women, which make women lose the opportunity to exercise important aspects of their moral behavior. In Delusions of Gender, Cordelia Fine disputes scientific evidence that suggests that there is an innate biological difference between men’s and women’s minds, asserting instead that cultural and societal beliefs are the reason for differences between individuals that are commonly perceived as sex differences.
