The articles The Great A.I. Awakening and Move 37: Artificial Intelligence, Randomness, and Creativity inspired me new understandings about A.I. The pace of machine learning is impressive. They learn by analyzing our data.
For instance, our history searching with Google translate is being used by Google to train their machines to learn translate better. Similarly, many other of our data maybe used by such companies in order to build better machines. Yet there is not a a way that we can deal with this because internet and computer have become so essential in our life that we cannot live without them for one day. We would just have to let such system develop and keep unconsciously contributing to the growth of A.I and machine learning.
I also start to worry about the future when machines can pass the Turing test. They then would be able to pretend to be human and communicate, making jokes and understanding how to poke emotions, just like how Alpha Go made his creative move in the game.
The Youtube video, What is Polychromatic Music?, is not very convincing to me. She added the element of color into music instrument and I appreciate this concept but the result is not strong. On the contrary, adding color to music note is increasing difficulty to music players since there are more information to be received and processed in their brain, and also, more music pitch is not necessarily a good thing. Watching the whole video was a painful experience for me since I do not enjoy the music she played at all, it sounds to me like sci-fi movie backgrounds in the 80s, meanwhile, her fingers seemed very uncomfortable playing those instruments. More0ver, I also do not like how she called the piano keyboard the ‘old-fashioned keyboard’. Piano keyboard is piano keyboard… it is classic and not ‘old-fashioned’ to me. Overall, I personally do not think this will be the future of music but I think some effort has been put. Adding color is a nice move but it can be shown better.
