When I heard the course name ‘Space and Materiality’ for the first time, I expected the classes to be composed of lessons where I learn how to fill the space with different materials. It was true that I explored different materials and learn how to fill the given space with them but it was something more than that. By learning the meaning of geometric figures , how to draw them and play with them, I was able to learn that they are in perfect proportion and harmony to one another. In fact, it was because they are all from nature, the system in which all lives perfectly works with one another. Moreover, with the meanings of different geometric figure, I could possibly create anything or express anything although these meanings were very elemental. Although it was true that getting used to drawing perfectly proportional shapes were difficult, once it became comfortable, it was very fun and meaningful to play with. This semester, my interest in sustainability increased and I was happy to apply what I learnt in the class to express my concerns one of its issue, the global warming. As I continue my major as a fashion designer, I hope and believe that this lessons will further help me in creating proportional thus beautiful and nature friendly designs.
