Going into Astoria without any prior knowledge, I was definitely intrigued by everything I saw. It was noticeably different from the rest of New York, in that it was so vertical or busy. It was as peaceful as it could be with the recent gloomy and rainy weather. The greek influence was very much apparent in the different greek markets and cafes. There was even statues of Sophocles, Aristotle, and Socrates in a little square. I also saw a greek american High-school, and many more religious schools and churches. Noticeably more than in Manhattan.
