Bridge Studio #1 – Freedom

Assignment

Employ the word ‘Freedom’ to construct an environment based on the emotions and ideas relative to this concept. We had to create a mood board, materials board, a 3d model and provided sketches that explore the meaning of Freedom.

Process

I would say the most successful aspect of this project was the collaboration and time management. With group projects it can be a difficult process adjusting to everyones schedules but we seemed to worked well and meet-up often enough so this wasn’t a problem at all. Through out the project are ideas were evolving so it was vital that we were constantly working on these ideas. We got a good idea of what our project was going to look like or be like in the first few days so we just worked towards that goal and worked with that initial idea. By the end we had everything pretty much completely and we finished up our project in a timely manner, minus a few complications.

My Role

I primarily focused on the Materials board and assisted in other areas like the building of the 3d model. We worked together on the project as a whole but we were able to each find our own niche simultaneously. The ideas were collaborative but the actual production was more individual. I collected the materials and assembled the board pretty much on my own which I didn’t mind, and I felt sure of myself while doing so because I did make sure ahead of time what I needed to do exactly by consulting my group, as all of did.

Reflection

I am pretty satisfied with this project, no matter the grade I will receive. I feel that I personally have learned from this project, in collaborating with my peers and exploring the concept of a constructed environment, in a pretty literal sense. I do not often like group projects so this was a enjoyable experience and one I will take from in future projects that require this kind of communication. While I know there are many things that can be improved upon, and in hindsight I can see where it went wrong and what I could have done I will take it as a learning experience to strive for better.
