Assignment #8 – Bending geography

Assignment description

Find a map of one of your town, city or neighborhood and see how much you can
remove from it (such as secondary streets) and how much you can abstract features
such as parks, rivers, roads and train tracks by using simple geometric forms: squares,
rectangles, triangles, circles and simple lines.

Reflection

In my project I chose to focus more on the medium I used rather than information on the map. There isn’t much as far as landmarks or roads that go on in my home town so I decided that using a creative medium would help in presenting my map. I will be adding a key, as I believe that is the major thing I could improve upon as well as using a different color for the border. I also feel like I could have potentially gone further in making this a more personal map, by including spots that were relevant to my life such as my home on the outskirts of the town or my families house.
