Community – There is a sense of belonging to a diverse and welcome neighborhood
W – Weaknesses
Not kid friendly – Like most of New York, Astoria is not open, safe, or considerate of the children of Astoria when thinking about the design of the city.
Poverty – The poverty rate in Astoria is one of the worst in New York, especially for children.
External
O – Opportunities
There is and good and accepting neighborhood, that can grow with the right factors brought into the area along with any newcomers
T – Threats
Gentrification and the rise of property value from newcomers seems to be the biggest threat to the future of Astoria, though this issue could just be something that is projected due to what is happening to the rest of New York.
