The fashion Industry is one of the world’s biggest problems in terms of sustainability, reusability, and consumer culture. One of the reasons for this is that industry standards work on a 36 season trend wave, meaning companies and brands are constantly mass producing countless supplies of a certain style, only to consider it “out” 10 days later. In hope to eliminate such expectations and wants to constantly throw away and buy new, I plan on constructing a singular garment that can have countless lengths, styles, colors, all in one. So, I would use a combination of reversible eco friendly fabrics and an attachment system so that the wearer and create countless styles with the same garment.
My second pitch is concerning mental health. We, as a society, are so concerned with work and “tomorrow” such that we forget about yesterday. People often struggle with moving too fast and trying to constantly change and move on, ultimately losing themselves along the way. I would construct some sort of heart shaped pouch that would connect the wearer’s heartbeat and brain to this pouch filled with memorabilia, pictures, quotes, etc. that would calm the person if their heart rate increases too much.
