Inspired by modern living spaces, the exterior consists of minimal, contemporary furniture and décor. It is portrayed in one point perspective from hand drawing the outline with pencil then transferring to Photoshop as the foundation layer. The entire piece is constructed with the paintbrush tool, using various types of brushes to portray different textures of each element. Highlights and shadows are shown through tinting and shading for volume and depth. Mixing from the palette of blue, yellow and pink, the space mainly consists of turquoise, pink and yellow to evoke energy, comfort and sense of invitation.
Originally, I planned to draw a two-perspective drawing, however, I wanted to show more of the space. By using one point perspective, I was able to cover more area of the terrace, partially of the interior as well as the location, which was in the city. Rather than having everything structured and organized, I added some elements that would make this look more organic: a chair at an angle, plants, koi fishes and draping cloth.
Throughout the making, it took longer for me to complete than expected, but overall I was pleased with the result. I think the colors worked well together and the other little details, such as the plants and fishes, were able to bring this piece to the next level. In terms of perspective, I was able to align the edges of each element to one vanishing point. On the other note, I could’ve intensify the shadows and highlights on the table cloth, carpet and water to show more depth and also to add more details on the buildings, such as windows or textures or shading. But overall, I enjoyed this project and pleased with the outcome.
