Wood Joint Final Project – Space+Materiality

My wood joint crown was difficult at times, but overall I am happy with the finished product. The band fits on many different head shapes and isn’t wobbly or unstable while worn. Adding wire as my other material wasn’t my plan from the beginning, but finding chicken wire was what inspired me to go in the direction that I went. The wooden square additions were my take on embellishing this crown to make it more royal. My favorite part of this piece my far is the wire circle on top. It adds a significant height to the crown without adding weight. It also contradicts the harshness of the triangle and square shapes.
