I’ve always had this one idea of what media was in my head before this assignment. I confined the word media into a category of only phones and the usage of phones and news. However, media is practically everything in this day and age. Everything that inspires an artist is either taken from media or expressed through media. I would wake up in the morning to me searching for my phone to see who texted me or what email notifications I got. Although a lot of my media log had to do with my phone, I wrote down books and movies, as well as advertisements I would see in the streets. Writing down this type of media exposure was actually very overwhelming to me.  As I wrote almost every interaction I had with media, it also made me realize that the location is also an aspect that goes into how much media exposure one gets. During summer, I went home to California where I live near the beach and go to the beach almost everyday. I was very much exposed to nature, the water, and human interaction. Here in New York city, there is so much activity, lights, and stimulation. I feel like a lot of businesses thrive on media. I thought of how different my media exposure would be if I wasn’t in New York because here, there was just way too much for me to log into my journal because almost everything I bumped into had to do with media.
