I found Murs Alison to be an interesting character because of how his actions are a reflection of our society. Murs job is to produce an image that encourages a specific group of people to admire him and trust his opinion on products. I do agree that this is a time consuming and challenging job, however, I don’t agree that it is worthwhile to me. I understand that consumerism is a part of our world and that will likely never change. This jobs seems to be different though because of how invasive and personal it is. It is advertising with no laws it provides brands with an opportunity to pry on their consumers’ weakness and need for inclusion like never before. I believe that Murs is a taker, he does not add substantial content. By this I mean that he is not using his power for the greater good he is not swaying his followers to donate to charity, fight for equality or anything of the sort. This is solely motivated by being recognized and making money. I am convinced that this behavior in society feed to more issues such as the have and have not mentality in addition to many other social causes that can be addressed by a change in the way we consume goods. An example of one of these issues is pollution Murs convince people to buy products that may not be reputable people try them and if they don’t like them they just get thrown away. Murs did not seem to acknowledge his contribution to wast culture and this bothers me a lot. Influencer Response
