I thought that the presentation today was really interesting. I had heard of VR in the context of gaming which never really interested me. If I’m being honest, this previous conception of what VR is did not make me excited to go to the talk. However, hearing about the journalistic uses of VR is really interesting to me, and it is inspiring to hear of how it was used in the UN meeting. I that that VR has a lot of power which could be good or dangerous. I think there’s a line that is hard to know about what to cross and what not to, and it sounds like the work being done is playing with that. VR is not a very accessible medium which I think impacts and restricts the audience that could be reached. Maybe this is something that turned me off about the form, but it sounds like it is being used in really innovative and effective works. I do not see myself making any VR works but I would love to try some out. However, after that presentation I still have no idea what it is composed of, like if you have to use complicated coding or just video? I’d be curious to learn more about the production, and how we as students could use this equipment. Which maybe we’ll be learning with the unity tutorials, so maybe that will happen! I thought that VR is something interesting which I would never otherwise have learned anything about
