Contour Haptic Drawings (Space/Materiality)

REFLECTION:

After doing 22 continuous haptic contour line drawings, I realized that my daily drawings have improved and become without hesitation. And without using my sight ability in drawings, my hands have become so much more sensitive. I felt like my entire hands have been activated and being used for their whole usage. By feeling the deconstructed parts, I finally understand why the body is part of the architecture, what makes an architecture successful is how it interact with the human body. Assuming that my hands are the body, and they are feeling the deconstructed parts as feeling buildings and houses. The texture, value, and depth of it are all necessary part of a design that will echo with my body.

The contour line of people have turned out “awful” hahaha but gradually improved through time as my lines are being so much purposed and fluent. I get to capture the important features of a person that lights him/her up. When I look back to the drawings I made, they look almost like conceptual drawings such as Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portraits. There are capacity and flow in those drawings with negative and positive space.

I feel like this activity has made me so much more awarded of the texture, lines, and space of my drawings. I think it’s very useful and meaningful.
