Revision and Reenactment

It’s a new semester, a new school year. Welcome first-year writers!

This week in Megan Milks’s Revision and Reenactment, students are reading personal essays in preparation to writing their very own. The first is Durga Chew-Bose’s 2014 “How I Learned to Stop Erasing Myself,” from Buzzfeed, an essay that digs deep into the question of what it means to be from somewhere! The second example Megan’s students are reading, Sonja Livingston’s “The Ghetto Girls Guide to Dating and Romance,” comes from the 2013 book You. An Anthology Devoted to the Second Person, edited by Kim Dana Kupperman.
